STAR WARS needs a little bit of Kersten’s Force

Fans have been waiting a long time, but it’s finally there: the seventh episode of STAR WARS. ‘The Force Awakens’ is in theatres now. The movie was filmed in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Kersten Middle East has produced several bent components for the film set of the latest STAR WARS movie ‘The Force Awakens’. One of the space ships and an entrance gate were created with bent sections and tubes made by Kersten.

The fictional desert planet Jakku serves as an important setting for some of the STAR WARS blockbusters. The desert of Abu Dhabi was elected to visualize Jakku. For the shoot a magnificent alien city was created here.


Bent parts for space ship and main city gate

Kersten Middle East got the order to bend tubes and sections for one of the movie’s space ships and the entrance gate to the alien desert city. “We are very proud to deliver bent parts for a production such as STAR WARS,” says Mike Minten, General Manager at Kersten Middle East.

Both tubes and sections have been bent in various dimensions and radii, of which UC2545x254x73mm with a very small radius of 1.3meters. “Our machine park has been equipped with advanced bending machines to bent profiles in very small radii with minimal tolerances”.
